Hi John,
I placed wooden L-blocks along the shear. The L shape was customized to match the angle of the shear strip for each form. The Ls were held in place by 2 screws. I used oversize holes in the forms, which allowed me sufficient room for adjustments to get a nice looking shear line. My shear never moved (at least to this point and I am about 80% done with the hull. For the fairing process I plan on hotgluing small blocks of cedar to the shear and form. This has actually good holding power. I orient the grains along the circumference of the form, i.e. it splits easily when I want to get it off before I finish up the deck. It will make removing the forms easier.

: I believe I will have to fair my haul and deck together to make it look
: right. I have used your method of hot glueing the shears in place but they
: don't hold well on my severe bends because my boat is wide beamed and only
: 12 feet long. What I may do is counter sink screw the shears into
: place,(that makes holes)and then use a plug drill to make matching wood
: plugs to fill the holes when I take the screws out later. I haven't read
: of anyone using plugs. Any comments pease?
