Scared me there for a second! As your pix came up it looked like a breaking wave behind you. The again I just got off the crapper where I was reading Jack Cootes "Total Loss." The Walrus may fill the bill, but now i"m wondering if the kevlar is worth the effort if you came in at 27 pounds.

How about bending the ribs to go all the way around

Sorry I blew your cover, but the framing on the skin boats still reflects native technologies. It seems that with modern adhesives and materials it could be improved upon. I had something in mind as suggested by Eric. Something in ash 'cause that's what's dying around here now. I had'nt got as far as rib spacing but 6 to 9 inches O.C. sounds about right. I picked up the plans for the 12' Snowshoe years ago, but have never got past collecting the cardboard. Something about no deck and having to look at all that model airplain weight framing, I guess. The yak form just seems so much better suited to this method. Thanks all!
