This "seamless" approach to ribs sounds extremely cool. Assuming they are made of laminated 1/16" ash strips, how thick do you suppose these ribs would have to be to provide adequate impact resistance?

Also, if doing it with cold bending, wouldn't cardboard forms be too weak to support the clamping pressure, requiring MDF or plywood forms?

Might give it a try this winter myself...
