Hello;
I decided to build a greenland style paddle, based on Chuck Holst's design guidelines. It was a quick and rewarding project - - It looks rather functional, if a bit . . . uh . . . "stick-like" . . . at least compared to a Euro-style paddle (sorry greenland paddle esthetic afficionados . . . ).
I used laminated cedar for the bulk of the paddle, with ash tips which were attached via tongue & groove, visible in this photo. You can see the construction at the link below, following the "Greenland Paddle" link.
It really looks too skinny, but I believe the experienced posters here as to its performance - - Hey, at least enough to build one . . . ;-)
