In Response To: sailboat shipping (Paul G. Jacobson)
: possibility of shipping it by water. easier to load on a freighter?
Possible, but risky and expensive. It would ship as deck cargo.
: It sounds like the sailboat is going to be oversize for trucking,
The outfits I posted can handle up to 80'. Let's see that'd be a 12 man kayak. Excessive beam may require permits, but, no disrespect to Russ, 9' isn't a big boat. My J/24 is 24' by 9' and stands about 11' high on its trailer. I can tow this anywhere for a $25 annual registration fee.
No the best method would be to try to get a good rate and a shared ride.
Hell, what's it weigh Russ? Maybe we can throw together a trailer and go on a road trip!
