The fumes consist of mostly Volitile Organic Compounds (VOC's). There is a high risk of explosion because spraying atomizes the VOC's which lowers their flash point. Watch out for pilot lights, sparks from switches and motors, etc.
As for their toxicity, it is not a problem because this is EXACTLY the purpose of a chemical cartridge respirator. They remove organic compounds.
