Rick,
You can glass over stain. However, if you stain try and get a waxless stain. It interferes with the epoxy sticking to the wood. I think the water based stains are a little better for this application. Second test the stain epoxy combination off the boat before you try it on your boat. Small headaches take asprin, big headaches ....

No matter what you use for stain. Give her a light sanding before you put glass on her. Not so deep as to lose the stain, but enough to give the epoxy something to sink into. I use 150 grit
