How Many in a Set?

Hi there.
This is just the kind of do-it-yourself thing I love. How many ducks do you have in your set, or how many would you recommend for, say, an 18' length of 1/2" X 1/2" of cedar or whatever you use for your spline?
Any reason NOT to make larger, heavier ducks?
