The coaming upstand visually extends to the cheekplate but the cheekplate visually extends to the seat, not the yak. And this is good structurally too, as the seat and u/s will give stiffness to the hull on both bottom scraping incidents and yak entry, and yet spread the load out so no big stress rising as the plate would do solely

The downside is that you would only notice the connectivity before outfitting, but that's when most of the publicity pics are taken anyway! And you would know to.

or what about translucent outfitting. Viny bags, or bubble wrap, or expansion fabric netting so you can see it.
