My only question
: is why the grinder? Wouldn't your plane bring the plug down flush with the
: deck with more control? Hate to see you gouge that beautiful deck!

Hi Geo.,
The three inch sander on the drill (grinder) is what I have been using to shape the small inlay pieces with, by holding them in my fingers and delicately sanding. It would be easier if you had a disk sander but this is cheap and does the job. By carefully fitting you peices and leaving the slightly tapered pieces slightly oversize so they fall about halfway down into the cut out, then glueing and taping them flush you get a very good fit and just a little sanding or plane strokes has them flush.
