There's something in the Summer 1991 issue: "You Can Take it with
You: Making Your Kayak a Take-Apart," by Steven J. Szarawarski.

There's also the Volskomponentkayak, (counterintuitively not available
at Ikea), which seems to work like the magician's prop (built with doubled
bulkheads and then sawn apart).
