: I picked up a bottle of elmers carpenters glue, I have just noticed it doesnt
: say aliphatic resin on the label anywhere. the old elmers said aliphatic
: resin, anyone know whats up with this? does it matter? Will this be as
: easy to sand? I used titebond on my canoe and that worked out well, but I
: liked the smaller bottle of elmers, sooo any opinions out there?

I just checked bot of mine and neither says aliphatic. As an aside here, I think I remember my resin expert saying to avoid aliphatic resin. Anyway, I have had great success with Elmers Professional brand, the good old yellow glue. I went to get a refill and by mistake picked up "exterior" Elmers which is almost white and leaves white streaks all over. I then had a brainstorm to use this stuff as filler with a touch of cherry stain. It really doesn't take stain. I'd stick with good old professional yellow Elmers and I'm going to order some wood flour to mix with redwood fines and EPOXY for filling. I tried mixing Elmers and redwood fines and it goes to a chewing gum consistency even after it's set up and you wet it again and the color is too dark anyway. Hope this is of use, JJ.
