: I want to glass a squirt boat in a mold. But I have no, repeat, no experience
: with fiberglass. I just found this site today, so I thought I would ask
: for help. Can anyone give me a run down of the steps I need to take? Any
: info. will help! Thanks, Matt

first make sure that the mold is clean and dry. then you need to use some mold release wax on the surface use three coats, make sure you get even coverage on the entire mold, next spray on a coat of pva this will also aid in removing the finished hull from the mold. next add gelcoat you want it to be about 20 mil thick wet as it shinks to about 18 when it is dry. you can get a mil guage at most fiberglass outlet places. do not add mekp to the gelcoat or surfacing agent
you want the gelcoat to be dry when you lay up the cloth but not cured. start out with a layer of fiberglass mat then cloth or roven woven then repeat untill you have a suffiecent thickness. be sure to trim the hull while the glass is cheesey if you wait untill it is hard it will be a pain. these are the basic steps for laying up a boat if you need more detailed info let me know and I will e-mail them to you.
