How 'bout the totally tubular approach suggested in passing by NPenny? I've always found a lot of uses for recycled inner tubes. Consider this: they are sturdier than commercial floats....if you look at one of those the wrong way they are liable to get a puncture and cost about 15 bucks a piece to replace. An inner tube can be fixed on the spot and is so much sturdier that it probably would never need repair. Also with an inner tube the space in the middle would allow ACTUAL ACCESSABLE STORAGE SPACE, sometimes a floatation bag interferes with this when it is located right below the hatch. Tie a rope around it to pull it in and out. Inflate it to "fit". And a bike tire pump (the kind that fits on the bike) is portable enough. A little heavier than floatation bags....always some trade-off. Regular auto tubes should do it ---truck tubes are probably too big.
