Nitrogen putty under Interlux Brightsides paint

Has anyone used red nitrogen putty (auto body type) to fair small imperfections before painting. I have grown tired of the endless cycle of filling and sanding using epoxy, but would like to paint to a very glossy finish. I'm using MAS non-blush epoxy, Interlux Brightsides one-part polyurethane paint with Interlux primer. The nitro putty is cheap, dries fast, fills small imperfections well and sands easily (on cars anyway). Will the paint (primer) adhere? Is it too soft? Any other problems?
