The hook pad on my Bosch wore out quickly so the disks fell off too easily. I bought a replacement hook disk that's much more durable looking (very low profile hooks; I wasn't sure at first that it'd work), about $5 from Supergrit (800-822-4003). The old hooks are ground down by running the ROS on a piece of sandpaper, then the new hook Velcro disk is glued on with contact cement. It's lasted through a bottom fairing job on a sailboat and a few other jobs with no sign of wear, so I haven't used the spare I bought. Supergrit also has a pretty good range of H&L disks, so I order from them instead of chasing around town. Actually, this all started when I ordered sandpaper disks from them, and they fell right off the Bosch (as compared to the 3M discs I hade been using). I called to ask what's up, and they recomended their hook disk - which, as it turns out, does in fact work better both with their disks and the remaining 3M disks.

: Hi,
: I am doing my sanding with my ROS sander. After a half hour of sanding the
: loop and hooks break off and the disc comes off for good. Is this what
: happens to these things for everyone? And is there any good way to take
: the cottony residue left on the sander from the disc. Also, can the disc's
: be reaplied using a spray contact glue or will that mess up the sander's
: loops or hooks.
: Thanks
: John
