Dale, you could also try the same with a couple of stainelss washers bent slight at the edges with a washer in the center and wingnut/screw through it all. You could set the hardware in a couple small chunks of mahogony, making it up as I go. I'm trying some spectra line on a constrictor splice for making the adjustments on some yakima footbraces that have hinged toe plates on them.
