: I have never fiberglassed for looks as it is done on strip building and I was
: apprehensive about it. I have a lot of material printed out from this
: board and it was a little confusing which method to use.
Just a little more information on my work for maybe those that are fiberglassing for the first time. My deck took 6 coats in all, one rolled precoat on the wood, one rolled coat on the glass cloth and four fill coats to make the cloth pattern disapear using a squeegee. I lightly sanded the third fill coat to level the epoxy a little and when I saw some glass pattern start to show white I stopped and put on a fourth coat. I think that will be enough and I will thoroughly sand it againg before I put on varnish or polyurethane. I think I will build a test panel and do a side by side test of varnish and one part polyurethane to see how they look and what the problems are with each. I get the opinion that varnish looks better but takes longer while polyurethane is faster and more durable but a little dangerous to breath.
