: I took the plunge over the weekend and put a seal coat and the first layer of
: fiberglass on my hull. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be and so
: for the results look ok....none of the bubbles I had on my test panels.
: What I did get though was a blemish. I sanded the seal coat before glassing
: and in a few of the areas where the resin was too thick it turned white
: when sanded. I figured that would go away when I put glass and fresh epoxy
: over it but I was wrong. It doesn't look too bad but I'd like to avoid it
: happening again. I wiped down the hull with a damp towel after
: sanding...what else should I do?
: Thanks
Do all your work on the bare wood before applying the seal coat. The seal coat is just a drink of resin for the wood so it won't have to contend with the glass for resin. I don't try to make the coat even, since the wood will absorb unevenly. I roll it on and DON"T TOUCH IT! Wiping it with water will turn it white!
When it's tack free lay out the glass and wet-out.
All the best,
