I put both the bulkheads and the wooden strips for mounting my footpegs in before I put the deck on. It made it much easier to work on them (epoxy coat, glass, sand, coat, etc.).

Then I only had the top of the bulkheads to glass to the deck thru the cockpit and hatch.

I glued and glassed a strip of wood about 3/16"x 2"x16" to each side of my cockpit area. I put "T nuts" in them. After they were firmly bonded and dry, I could just screw the footpeg rails to them. I can easily replace them with a sliding rail if I want to add a rudder in the future.
