: My son and I have a form from building the best yak in the world,Guillemot 17
: from Nick's book, so we came up with the idea of building a tie die SOF
: off of the exsiting form. Build points to be concidered.
: 1) Steam bending 3/8 clear vertical grain fir ribs, from a folding door I
: replaced, one foot on center. Same as the form.
: 2) Remove all frames from form and fasnten to internal keel.
: 3) Apply longitudals to frames, 1/2x3/4 spruce
: 4) Build cockpit frame
: 5) seal frame
: 6) Apply tie died 100% hemp 9oz canvas with staples( hemp is 30% stronger
: than cotton and eco.)
: 7) finish with Diamond Coat Polyurathane.
: The question I am proposing, amount of frames and size, tie die the cloth
: before.
: Most people say the first wetting of the natural canvas skin shrinks the
: cloth.I left out all vast amount of detailing a boat needs.
: thanks all Don and Max

If hemp canvas is anything like cotton canvas then 9 oz is too light and will sag no matter how tight it is applied. Anything lighter than #10 15 oz cotton canvas is just wasting your time. Consider nylon or polyester as it won't rot when left in the damp.
