: Anybody have a guess as to how much dust is eliminated by using a vacuum with
: a ROS?
: Previously for 2 kayaks I've already sanded outdoors with no vac.
: Now, I'm planning on sanding indoors with a vac and want to know if I should
: still hang drop clothes to eliminate dust from floating all over the shop.
: any help here?
: thanks,

Pete, I have found the better ROS sanders have a powerful internal vac system and move the dust better than the cheaper sanders. When attached to the shop vac, my ROS picks up almost all the dust on horizontal surfaces but, on vertical or curved surface the dust may fall off before it can be picked up by the vac.
I made a fine dust filter system with an old furnace fan to remove the fine dust in the air. It works great with 3 furnace filters to catch the airborn dust that the sander-vac doesn't get. I run this filter whenever I do any sanding.
