I used board buddies and they worked really well. I don't think they are part of your problem. Actually I found it is best to only have one person control the feed board (I cut with 2 people, but the 2nd man didn't touch the main board). I cut 18' and 20' strips on the table saw. Check you rig for exact straightness and try another board and know that you do not WANT another person to help, just keep thefeed cpnstant and against the fence. good luck.
