Greetings,
I built numerous large multihulls (25' to 45') using cedar, Duracore or foam strips. I anchored the strips using a 1/4" crown air stapler. The staples were shot over 1/8" D lawn mower starter cord. When we were ready to remove the staples we put on our "protective cup",climbed into the hull and grabbed the end of the starter cord with a pair of pliers. With a big jerk (on the cord that is) the staples flew, impaling the poor employee who got that job that day.
I don't know if this would work on thinner strips used in kayak construction. Another method is to shoot the staples through the narrow (1/2" or so wide)plastic/fiber banding found on cardboard boxes or pallets. You can pull this up and remove the staples at the same time.
