Hi Scott.
I used cheater strips in the Guillemot I'm building. As recommended by others, I left just shy of a one-strip width at the end of the form and essentially whittled a scrap strip into form with a block plane to serve as a cheater.
I took some pictures, they're up at the below link with a few notes to boot.
