I am certain you can make a stripper strong enough to handle white water. How strong that needs to be depends on your skills and the rivers you go on. There hasn't been the boat built yet that some river, somewhere, couldn't tear to shreads. The tamest river can still destroy a boat if you mess up. How strong it needs to be also depends on what kind of damage you feel is acceptable. A thin layer of glass can be scratched through even if the wood does not break. Thin wood may buckle even if the glass does not rupture. While neither failure may be catastrophic in all cases, they both could be.
