Since my construction technique was much different, I'm not sure how applicable this is, but ...The recess went from the form in front of the cockpit to the form in back of it (the forms with no flat spots). This gave me attachment points to the beams in those positions. The sides of the recess rested on the sides of the flat forms. This seemed most natural, but may not be to specs because I kind of free formed the recess rim and did not use the outline provided by Joe. The cockpit rim itself was more problematic. I ended up cutting into the flat forms some to get it to settle into place better. It was built to specs. I probably had to modify things due to my free forming the recess and my need to have the cockpit rim and recess rim connect at the sides for structural reasons.
I think the recess on the stripper should fall in such a way as to be even with the flat forms so that you can apply strips across it. The cockpit can then be cut from that. But, only Joe know's for sure .
