The Return does have these spots. I just ignored them (I couldn't reach in to fix them anyway), but you could try to glue to the frame in those places. CA gel works well with the polyester. The heat tape may not be good in those situations. It is very strong when stressed in the direction of the fabric, but weaker when you pull up perpendicular to the fabric surface.
Mike Hanks and I discussed the possibilities of the Guillemot. It seems to be a bit shallower in the cockpit region and may require more reenforcement there. In an earlier BB discussion, I believe Mick Allen had suggested running a stout strip or board along the inside of each gunwale to help with this. I think this building method has a lot of potential. It allows you to use SOF techniques on a modern design and also lets you to easily tweek an existing design more to your liking/needs before committing to a full blown stripper version.
