Thanks for that read Rob, when you say 16" square, do you mean 4"x4", or 16"x16"? I've yet to be brave enough to got the brush route without the roller but I've seen it done exactly as you describe looking nearly perfect. I think this is one of those simple skills like throwing pizza, takes a little doing but can be learned.
