Try carefully sanding the strands down now before you put a second coat on. You don't want to sand into the good fiberglassed areas near the strands. Will help to blend the high spots in when you put your filler coats on. That's what I did anyway and seems to work nicer then waiting until all the epoxy is on to sand them down.
