We didn't plan on making a 12 mile voyage. I left the map at the truck (which was about a block away). I said I would go get it, but Cid said no let's just get going. We knew that if we went up one section of the slough it would make a turn and we could then take a different channel back. After about 5 miles we didn't know whether to turn around or continue a little further. So we phoned everyone we could think of until someone picked up. I talked to a friend and gave her the directions of where we went. She said we had about another mile to the intersection so we decided to continue on. When we got back kayaking wasn't so fun anymore.

: One thing that will really help is getting your foot pegs in and some
: outfitting so the boat fits you. If you ski imagine trying to controll
: them with your boots un laced. Much of your boat contoll comes through
: your legs and they have to have something to hold on to.

Cids kayak had footpegs and foam along the seat, and I did notice that it seemed to help for boat control.
