: I'm only guessing, but I'd suspect that you find more satisfied customers
: building from kits than you would from plans when your designs feature a
: lot of percision cut panels
Hmm..... I never researched, & I think this comparison is a little wierd,
but I believe most "kit builders" are happy with the precision of their
kit pannels, & with their kits in general.
I know I am happy with the quality of the coho kit I got from Pygmy.
: For a CLC-style hard chine design you only need 4 panels cut with percision:
: 2 for the bottom and 2 for the sides. When you get into multi-chine hulls
: and decks you wind up with a lot of individual pieces that all have to be
: precisely cut in order for everything to fit together and look good.
I believe many of us can handle the tough job of cutting pannels,
after all, look at all the though stuff we handle on the furnitures
we make.
CLC also makes a multi chine yaks - the west river ?
I don't know if they sell plans for it. do they ?
: I don't think it's much of a choice between most novice builders and a CNC
: machine when it comes to cutting panels percisesly enough to ensure a good
: end result.
I never brought up the quality question, I just wanted to have the plans/
offset tables for my boat (coho) so I could play with the design and/or
build another boat (& pay the required fee).
but it seems like I will not be able to get these plans.
this is no big deal.
there are enough plans & design s/w around.
