John, I just wanted to say I am very impressed at your creativity. This is thinking out of the box, and even though it didn't work it opens new ideas. I'm sure Orville and Wilbur Wright didn't jump in thier plane and fly the first time, and had they not kept going look where we would be. Very good idea. Keep us posted as you progress. Perhaps you could use it as a coaming for a neoprene hatch cover under your wood hatch to make it waterproof? Can you let it harden and miter it?
