Hi Ed, nice invitation... I stored my kayak outside under a public carport for over a year. I ended up putting a deck plate in the rear bulkhead; I threaded a long (padded) Crypton chain through the cockpit, deck plate, rear hatch and around an eight inch beam. So to steal the boat you would have to cut through the chain, the carport or the kayak deck. It was hanging pretty high off the ground but I never had a problem. The system could work on a car rack as well.
