"Meet at the Beach" this past June was very easy to organize. Rob Macks suggested it, I made a web page, Rob sent some letters to a few paddling magazines, we talked up the idea here on the bulletin board, then we all showed up.

The hardest part is finding a suitable location. We just used a state park we knew had a beach and nearby parking. It was not neccessary to get permits as we weren't doing anything very formal.

This event was not as big a deal as some of the other gatherings but it was easy to organize, low key, fun and the turnout was good.

If you want to organize a similar gathering, pick a day and a place and start talking it up here on the bulletin board. You will probably get a good turnout. With the people that show up you can organize something more formal the follow year - if you want to.
