: Is paint thinner mineral spirits?

The only real difference between "paint thinner" and "mineral spirits" is the price. The more expensive one doesn't smell as much. Either will work. Just be sure to give a good final wipe down with a clean cloth or paper towel, and let the surface dry thoroughly before doing anything to it.
