What Russ said.
I am building a S&G guillemot. I am 2/3 finished and I am impressed by the stiffness/strength of the hull. I see that as good in a seaboat that I am going to carry cuising gear in. The inherent strength of the hull is in complete contrast to my Plastic white water kayak and fibreglass/kevlar down river racers.
For me white water is grand fun = 1/3 roller coaster (going through rapids, pressure waves, over little waterfalls), 1/3 bumper car (richoceting off rocks)and 1/3 sledging over shallow bits (too lazy to get out). That is a lot of bumping and grinding. A wooden hull, being as strong as it is, would have little give. When rocks are about the rock will always win.
I had alot of fun with my fibreglass white water kayak, but got sick of patching it up after all the rocks bouncing. The old fashioned plastic one is heavier and I don't like the feel of it, but it sure takes some punishment.
I see the new generation white water kayaks seem to be about 8' long slippers made of plastic.
I guess that is for a reason.
Sorry I know of no plans.
Good luck Pete
