This was exactly the approach taken by Norm Abram when he made a bent-wood hat rack. He put the entire bending jig in the oven (lowest heat setting, and the door slightly ajar) for a while to speed up the drying process, as he had many pieces to do. Then he glued the pairs together. It worked quite well.
