On my last two trips to the West Coast I've seen dogs on or in kayaks. They tend to be small like a border collie certainly not a shepherd or a labrador. One sat in the rear stowage compartment complete with a spray skirt and the other sar on top on a foam mat held by the rear deck bungees. The owners assured us that the dogs realy loved it.
