The Cape Ann Sport didn't ring any bells for me, so I went snooping on Vaclav's website and sure enough, there it was. And here it is, below. He says it's a brand new redesign, scaled for a 160# paddler, and it looks like a winner to me. Don't expect to find many folks who have paddled one, though.
The Silver has been around a little longer, I first saw one a year ago at R2K. Am building one now for my 145# wife, about to glass the interior. Speed seems very good for a "short" boat, due to a clean hull with low wetted surface area. Tracking is very good as well, but the modest rocker forward allows some maneuverability. It sticks well in its own bow wave, and handles neutrally in quartering winds - a BIG plus in my book. Primary stability is less than my Guillemot, but certainly not objectionable. It does not feel "tender" to me.
I know one guy who thinks it tracks too hard, but hey! He's from Montana, and wears a pink wet suit!
Bottom line, I'm partial to Redfish, but either of these boats should work very well for you. If you decide on the Cape Ann Sport, please keep us posted.
: Both of these boats appeal to me.I'm 5'9" 150 lbs. and want a boat
: capable of long weekend open ocean travel. Speed, stability and tracking
: are more important than ultimate manueverabiliy. Who has experience with
: the Cape Anne and, or the Silver
: Opnions welcome,
