I had trouble finding white cedar, especially in long lengths. My dad ended up locating some at a farm in Door County, WI, and he picked out the best stuff. Over here in Holland, MI, I found white cedar at Holland Log Homes, but only in 8' lengths. If memory serves, the next-closest place to me was a big lumberyard in Lansing. I'd suggest giving any local log-home builders in your area a call, as well as the bigger lumberyards in Chicagoland. You might have to settle for shorter boards and to do more scarfing, but it's really not all that bad... (and personally I think the white cedar is worth it)
