Jed, sounds like you haven't started stitching yet and you're going by the overall floppiness of the affair, fear not, it'll work. I like what Craig says, I've never done the every other wire method but if it works that's all that matters. Not making wiring the bottom panels together tight helps A LOT in the beginning to prevent the possibility of developing a flat spot as all the wires are tightened.
