Any thoughts on making the Aleut paddle with a spine on both sides? Or would that make it a modified Greenland paddle? Although I'm at the beginning of my paddling learning curve, I appreciated Jay Babina's comments that the mirror image faces of the Greenland paddle facilitate sculling and rolling manuevers. I haven't tried it yet. How does the Aleut paddle work in those situations?
Sculling with my Werner Camano paddle is a challenge for me...the blade behavior changes constantly as it moves through the water. When I've sculled with my 2x4 Greenland paddle, it was much easier to direct the blade. I won't know how the Aleut paddle feels until I make one from Rob's plans this winter.
