When I did one of the fillets in the transition area between the hull and the cutwater on my baidarka, I had a brain stall and added too much hardener, which caused the epoxy to not harden completely even after a week or so. I was prepared to sand the offending area down to the good epoxy in the seal coat I had put down before the fillet. When I began sanding I noticed that as the improperly cured epoxy became warm, from the friction of sanding, it almost immediatly clogged the sandpaper but also became very soft, like bubblegum, with only a slight rise in temperature. I plugged in my heatgun/paintstripper and warmed the improperly cured epoxy a bit and it came off really easily with a putty knife. The temperature needed to soften the improperly cured epoxy was low enough that it had no effect on the properly cured epoxy around the "bad" stuff. Once I had removed the bulk of the uncured epoxy I sanded that last remaining bits till I was down to the properly cured epoxy of my seal coat.
