Thinking Ahead

I finally glassed the hull of my Guillamot S&G the other day, had the glass layed out, ready to mix some epoxy when I realised that I didn't have a squeegee. Guess I went over the whole process in my head so many times that when it came down to the actual job I forgot the squeegee!

A quick search aroung my garage turned up some rubber U-channel that had been a part of an aluminium window, cut six inches off, put it between some 1"X 6" pieces of ply with 1/4" of rubber poking out of one side, a dozen or so staples in each side, back in business!

The squeegee worked beautifully, cost nothing, took about two minutes to make. If I had remebered while I was at the hardware store I would have spent $ on one, not a lot of $ I know, but it all adds up. I'll never have to buy one now!

Guess it doesn't always pay to think ahead.

Paul.
