I hope you can understand my curiousity about how you apply it if you cannot even spread it around to apply it.

Since the nature of a roller is to spread material, and the nature of a squeegie is to wipe material off, I'd be fascinated as to why you believe a roller would remove more excess then a squeegie. Sounds like your cars wiper blades have been replaced by rollers to better remove rain.
