I bought all my stuff from Noah's in Toronto. I was pleased, although I don't know if better prices can be had. I would recommend, though, that you listen to the designer rather than Noah's staff. Everyone thinks they're an expert, and nobody agrees (that doesn't apply only to Noah's staff). One person will tell you not to waste your money on the recommended product, another will upsell you. Do your own research and use your own judgement if you're going to depart from the designer's advice.

Have you read The Kayak Shop? It's definitely worth reading. Noah's carries it and it's available from the Toronto library system.

What's your opinion of the Yare? What kind of conditions would you recommend it for? Any idea of the total cost?

As for the Cape Charles, I've read that the Chesapeake is supposed to be a much improved version of the same boat. I built one and I'm extremely pleased with it. Below is a link to Chesapeake's site, if you haven't checked it out already.
