I decided last night to pull the skin and start over. Some of the problem was that I had failed to glue (after fitting) some of the trestling. The fastening had failed causing the chine to lift (sheer to drop). This was probably my biggest problem. (Duh) A cheap lesson. Imagine structural and skin failure 3 miles offshore!

I will re-cover the boat this weekend and follow your recommendations re: shrinking and humidty.
