I just bought a peach of 1974 Dodge pick-up to (among other things) support my kayaks and their building. It has an aluminum cap to which I would like to attach a homebuilt rack to carry two or three wood and canvas boats.

What kind of saddle provides the best support for a canvas boat?

Any advice, pictures or diagrams would be appreciated.
