Introduction to Flight by John D. Anderson is a great book for learning about aerodynamic principles. It puts the concepts in plain english, worded clearly with enough engineering and mathematics to show the origins and uses of the forlmulas and concepts it presents. It is a textbook, so it's a bit expensive, but if you're going to buy one book about aerodynamics in your lifetime, make this the one.
